All joking aside would a 2 school solution be better than a 3 school deal?

I have thought 3 schools would be the better option bases on the fact that 2 schools would be around 1000 students each which is 100 kids over the amount that the studies I have read have recommended size wise (I have posted links several times and do not want to go digging for them again [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] but the optimum school size was between 500-900 students) However I can understand that with enrollment dropping off that 1000 students may be 900 by the time the schools are build AND if enrollment goes up a 3rd school could always be built.

Not 100% convinced yet but the 2 School Idea may have more legs than I first thought

Let's just focus on the primary schools. Afterall, everything worth knowing is learned in kindergarten. After primary, everyone can homeschool and take all their classes on the computer. Think of all the saved money just by reducing so many teachers and administrators; even the tests can be graded by computers. This would free up alot more money for the important things, like football fields, gymnasiums, field houses, etc.

Sadly there are a great many people that agree with your post, you get the folks that want to get rid of school libraries and teach all but the most basic classes online just in order to keep a building and a football team

Anyone know what the consensus is on teachers thoughts at this point? Im sure if there is consolidation, there will be several teachers and coaches without jobs. Anyone know the extent to what this will be?

I am sure that will be the case but probably not to the extent that some think and good gauge would be the number of folks that got the warning before when consolidation was on the table.

IMHO if you are trying to teach more advanced classes then there will be potently more classes to teach than they were before so who knows. Coaches are another story and in a 3 school solution half the head coaches will no longer be head coaches. however the quality of each staff Should improve

One other factor to consider is that there is quite a few older teachers, who will over time retire, etc.

If they feel like they have too many teachers, they could encourage the early retirement more.

As for coaching staffs and coaches, sure some will probably end up being out, but most of the schools have enough problems finding decent coaches as is. You also could really improve your JV and youth programs potentially by having experienced assistants take over leadership roles instead of having the best kids dad being coach every year [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]
